Worship at Union Church

Jesus Christ is affirmed as Lord and Savior during worship times at Union Church of Quincy. We worship to Glorify God our Heavenly Father, lift up Jesus Christ our Savior, and be open to the moving presence and power of God’s Holy Spirit.

Sermon by Pastor Scott

Message

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is presented through every element of worship. The words of Scripture form the foundation of our worship experience. People of every age are involved in reading, singing, and participation. Dr. Scott T. Arnold preaches messages from the Bible that pertain to every day life. As pastor he believes that the Bible is the primary source for faith, encouragement, and enlightenment. Sermons are often followed by a prayer where people can consider their response to the message, sometimes the response is a silent prayer, sometimes opportunities are given for people to come forward in prayer. Decisions of faith or renewal are encouraged, but not demanded. The sermons are available on our website (under Media), and are also available on CD for sharing and reflection.

Kids singing on Youth SundayMusic

People of all ages enjoy praising God with a variety of music expressions. The praise band is primarily contemporary, but also leads the congregation in the great hymns of the past. The choir sings a variety of music ranging from recent harmonic arrangements to spirituals, hymns, and classic revival songs. The instrumentation in the church involves guitars, drums, synthesizers, and piano. We also have a hand bell choir for adults, and one for children. The children will also lead us in singing on special Sundays and are actively learning songs through VBS and our Wednesday Celebration Nights. People enjoy all types of music; therefore the best word to describe music at Union Church is “Diverse”.

Ministry

From the moment you arrive you are warmly greeted by our Hospitality Team. Soon you realize that this is a church where you can feel at home and among friends. People of all ages enjoy worshipping together. Worship attendance is normally between 150-180 people. Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers through our staff of caring, responsible, and screened, caregivers.

We see worship as a time where God is working through people as we minister to one another in care, communication, and prayerful support. We believe that everyone who comes for the first time is a “guest”, not a “visitor”. Fellowship time comes after worship and is held in our gym. Make sure you get some great tasting coffee and donuts.
